Just some reminders to the community on the issue of copyright.
(1) What is the official deviantART copyright policy? [link]*In most cases it does not matter how much of the material you have used. Whether it's a single frame, a few moments of audio, a short clip of video or any other sampling it's still considered to be copyrighted and you still require the owner's permission for use.
*It doesn't matter how you obtained the material, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.
*It doesn't matter whether or not you've credited the proper owner, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.
*It doesn't matter if you are not selling it or making a profit, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.
*It doesn't matter if you can find other people using things without permission, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.
*It doesn't matter if you've edited it a little bit or made a few alterations, if it's recognizable it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.Art thieves really need to read that one
thoroughly. You can't post stuff that doesn't belong to you without the permission of the original owner. Period. It's spelled out plainly in the FAQ.
(2) Can I sell fan art as prints? [link]deviantART does not allow the sale of copyrighted characters or works.
While artists can upload fan art as a deviation in their gallery, they may not make fan art available for purchase as a print without violating copyright and trademark protections.I see a lot of people taking commissions for art of copyrighted characters. You can't do that. Not only has the deviantART FAQ outlined that you cannot do that, but it's illegal
off-site as well. It doesn't matter if you drew it yourself. If the character belongs to someone other than you, you cannot sell that image unless you have explicit permission from the copyright holder to do so. Quit it.

*No more profanity nor using God's name in vain on my page nor deviation comments: [link]*Do not ask me for requests, art trades, nor commissions. Do not ask me to join groups nor enter contests.
