I've kind of invented my own alternate fantasy universe, inhabited by people called "Saliskans" instead of humans (there is a picture of them in the "Original Characters and Fan Characters" section of my gallery). I'm not asking for an opinion on the species at the moment. Instead, I was wondering if I could get some critique, or even suggestions, on the world itself. Here is a basic summarization of the World and its dynamics so far (the Saliskans simply call it the "World" and not the "Earth"):

The World is not shaped like a sphere, but rather it is a flat disc. In the center of the World is an island (or continent?) called Saliska, which is where the Saliskans live. It is surrounded by an ocean and this ocean is surrounded by a sort of "land barracade" that prevents the water from flowing off of the edge of the world. The World is hundreds of miles across, perhaps even more than a thousand, but it is much smaller than Earth.

Unlike in our Universe, there is a universal sense of "down" and gravity always pulls you down. Below the World there is an abyss called Oblivion which is literally bottomless. If you fall into Oblivion, you just keep falling and falling forever (you'd eventually die from thirst, starvation or hypothermia, of course). So basically, if you travel to the edge of the World, you can fall off (as was once thought to be possible back in earlier days here on Earth). The further you fall into Oblivion, the colder and darker it gets as well because you get further from the Sun.

Also, there is air everywhere. There is no "outer space". The air also has a constant pressure everywhere, so when you travel to higher altitudes, you can still breathe just as well. In theory, you could ride a hot air balloon to the stars. Well, maybe. I haven't decided just how far away (or how large) the stars are from the World itself.

Now then, here is where I have different possible avenues for creativity. I was imagining that perhaps the World itself is motionless and that the Sun and the Moon orbit around it (again, hearkening back to early Earthly theories). However, I had another idea which might prove more original. I was thinking perhaps that the Sun would remain motionless in the sky above the World. Instead of setting, it would dim until it was the brightness of the full Moon, thus allowing the cycle of day and night by brightening and dimming over a 24 hour period. In this way, the Sun and the Moon are one and the same object. Which sounds better to you? The Sun and Moon are different and orbit the World, or they are the same and simply brighten and dim over time?

I mentioned the stars earlier. I have decided that they are fixed in the sky. What I haven't figured out is how far away they are, how large they are, or even if they are hot (maybe they give off cold light like fireflies?). Should they be made of some solid material that can be handled and brought back to the World for some interesting purpose? Should the Sun be just another star or should it be something different altogether? Might there be other worlds out there, much as there are other planets in our universe?

I've seen some of my pictures used on other websites. For the most part, that is okay. However, I have found one where the person who posted it claimed ownership of the image. This is what I do not want. If you want to use my artwork, here is what you need to know:

What you ARE allowed to do:
*Post my artwork on Myspace, Youtube, your personal website and most other websites.
*Use any of my avatars on either deviantART or another website.
*Trace or modify my artwork. Most people don't like it when you do this, but I really don't care that much.

What you are NOT allowed to do:
*Take my artwork and claim that you drew it yourself.
*Re-post my artwork on deviantART. Not only is this against the rules here, but it is a waste of server space.
*Sell my artwork without my consent.

Another thing: Although it would be nice if you did mention me if you used my artwork, you don't strictly HAVE to. All I want is for there to be honesty about it. If you didn't draw it, don't say that you did.

Anyone using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report'

If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC,
And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it .

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'..

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to
PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY

I don't know if this is true but you can never be sure! SO WATCH OUT!"
